Life changes desperately
Peter knew the world changed, and he had been changing with it. This time though it had turned completely upside down and inside out. Not just for himself, but for most of the town.
Including Lydia and Stilinski.
With that Peter had learned two things. Whatever he had felt for the Martin girl after nesting in her mind was gone, and he had to prepare Stiles in case the next big bad thought he would make a decent vessel.
Of course, that meant convincing Stiles he was there to help, and to get the boy to listen to him. Someone had to protect him before he was actually the deadly supernatural being he could be.
So he set out looking for him, heading for the Stilinski house, using dusk to stay under the radar and hoping he didn't have a run in with someone looking to stab him with something sharp and pointy.

The FBI is in on it, and he'd never thought he'd be happy for Scott's asshole father before now. While his dad knows about the supernatural now and everything, he hates that he's become an even bigger burden to all of them. With Allison and Aiden, he's surprised that he's still actually living really. That Isaac or Ethan or someone else - Lydia maybe or even Scott hasn't poisoned him or just conveniently severed his brake lines. He wasn't good enough to keep Erica and Boyd alive, wasn't good enough to keep the parents from getting caught, wasn't good enough to keep the nogitsune from doing whatever the hell it wanted with him.
So he's curled up in his bed, trying to sleep or just be still and silent. Staying out of trouble, so he's not anymore of a burden than he already is just by breathing.

Letting himself into the house, he headed up to the second floor. Not even bothering to knock, just pushing the door open and leaning against the jamb.
"So... Do you plan to just stay there until you die?"
He wasn't even playing games. Not in the least.

Made sense in a weird way.

"Who would pay me to kill you? Those with the money would do it themselves. Not to mention I probably have more money than most of them put together," he said, stepping into the room. "You haven't showered, have you?"
Okay, now the senses were coming into play.
"So what is your plan? To take your dad's only family member away?"
no subject
"I'm here, I'm not hunger striking. Just staying out of the way, not causing any more trouble. No scars or cut marks. Nothing like that."
He's being good and behaving for once.

He moved a step closer, his voice soft and even. "So then why are you blaming Stiles for the things the nogitsune did?"
no subject
"Blamed you a little for Scott. Derek for Isaac a little." He tried to blow it off a little. And while intellectually he knew that he didn't actually do the things that had killed people, it didn't stop the guilt or the nightmares or any of it.
"Wasn't strong enough. My fault in the end."

And that was it. He grabbed the blanket, giving it a jerk.
"Get the Hell up," he snarled, giving another tug. "You're going to say those words to me, then get on your goddamn feet and do it to my face."
Said the man that still blamed himself every day for letting his family die, for not being strong enough to save them.
no subject
"Nah, just the people who made them that way sometimes. Blamed the biters not the bitees." Stiles said with a small shrug.
He'd glare at Peter if he had the energy to, but he doesn't. He's too tired. "What? It's true. Puny human, couldn't save my dad, couldn't close the door in my head, couldn't fight off the nogitsune. Too weak."
no subject
Yet even as he asked it, he snorted and it was nearly a laugh. "Too weak. Puny human. Who the hell told you that? Betting it wasn't your mother," he said, watching the boy and waiting to see his reaction to that.

Stiles shuddered, "Because I should have been able to see it. I should have..." And then he heard the crack about his mother and it was like a bolt of lightning shot through him and he replied in a voice cold enough to shatter diamonds, "No, she wouldn't have seen me as weak. No one who accuses you of attempting to kill them multiple times over the course of a month or so and tries to get you before you seemingly get them would think that."
There was a blank look on his face that in the back of his head something noted that it probably was pretty terrifying to look at. "And she wouldn't have done that, Scott has though, and most of the rest of the pack at some point, including your nephew at a few points."
no subject
"No, whatever attacked her, that thought you were weak. Claudia, the woman I knew, she was so in love with you, so proud of you, that you carried her genes, you have no idea what she thought of you," he said, snarling. "I knew though. I knew when she was my sister's emissary."
no subject
His mom had been the Hale's emissary? "But...but Deaton?" He'd thought the vet had been the emissary. It would have explained the guilt and the weirdness.

That made him laugh a little bitterly. "Something about that is fitting. About Deaton. Still wrapping my head around Mom being your Emissary."
He stops for a second, "So you knew her? Got any good stories?"
no subject
Hale history went for a long time but for Peter all of life was about that night when his world changed.
"Your mom was a good woman, and a strong emissary. She was the perfect match to Talia's leadership."
