Getting away - for Piper

Peter's life was lived by moons. His place in his family's life meant that no matter what else he did, he had to be home by the night before the full moon and was free again two days after. His sister would prefer he be there more often but he was trying to find his own life, no matter if Talia felt his life should be hers.

Which was why, come the morning after the full moon, earlier than usual, he wheeled his bike out of the garage and was down the lane before his sister caught on to what the noise was.

He took off up the coast, trying not to think about how hard the night had been, how hard it was dealing with being the alpha's brother and how much it meant his life truly wasn't his own but was hers.

The further he got from Beacon Hills though, the better things got in his head. Getting out of the mindset of being beta and just being Peter Hale.

He rode into San Francisco late in the evening and it was neon lights that caught his attention. Figuring he'd find a room later, he secured his bike and headed into the bar. Tight jeans, a leather jacket, not caring that his hair was a bit windswept as he headed to the bar to order a drink.

It was a quieter night at P3. It was still busy but there wasn't a live band to make it hard to hear. That would be later in the week and hopefully, if their luck held out, that wouldn't be interspersed with a demon that had to be vanquished. Piper and her sisters could enjoy the quiet time to focus on things that mattered.

Prue and Phoebe had just left for the night, work and homework to focus on so Piper worked the bar, mentally taking inventory as she did. It was hard not to notice the man coming down the stairs in the tight jeans and leather jacket. He was the sort of guy her sisters would have hit on for sure had they been there.

Piper smiled and walked over toward him, waving off one of the other bartenders as she placed a cocktail napkin down. "What can I get for you?"

Piper would like to say she noticed the small things but truth was, as distracted and as busy as she was? She simply didn't. What she did notice though was the very confident strut he had and for the first time in all the years she heard Phoebe and Prue talk about things like that, she knew what they meant.

"You got it. Would you like to payout or start a tab," Piper asked as she poured him a double whiskey then a beer, setting both glasses down in front of him.

She wiped her hands off on a towel then grabbing another drink for a customer who just wanted a refill.

Piper walked back over to the man and laughed, taking his card. "Sounds like a plan," she said, starting a tab for one Peter Hale (according to the credit card).

She walked back over to get started on another drink for one of their regulars. "Piper, the name is Piper Halliwell," she said, with a smile. "First time here?" He didn't look like anyone she had seen before around here but that didn't mean anything. So many people came in and out of P3 that it was hard to really know many of them.

She reached over after and shook his hand. "Welcome to P3," she said with a bright smile. "I think everyone needs a little time away once in a while." Though she was one to talk, she never really took a trip. Unless you counted work trips here and there. And the one time she went "Up There" to "meet" the Elders before Leo was pulled away. It had been hard at first to lose the man she had loved then but as time went on, she was less hurt and glad she had spent that time with him. Piper knew more now than she had before about herself and about relationships.

"One of them, yes. We're a family with all 'P' names," she laughed. "No one has branched out yet."

Not that any of them had really found anyone just yet. Though Phoebe was getting quite close with Cole, the Assistant DA.

Piper couldn't help the laugh that escaped when he gave that huffing sigh. "Absolutely," she agreed and took a sip from her glass of Perrier - which was what she was limited to when she was working. At least, what she limited herself to. "It's a little harder for my sisters and I but we make do." It was always when one of them were gone when someone needed their help or something big would happen.

"You should be so lucky," she teased him with a bright grin, realizing after a second that -- damn, was she flirting?? She didn't flirt! Not, normally. Not since Leo and Dan. Neither of which were relevant at this moment.

"Oh? Like the Peter and the Wolf fairy tale? Now that is a little more interesting than most of the women in our family have P names."

The mere image of some posse coming to drag this man home made another laugh escape her lips. "I can only imagine," she admitted with a smile, shaking her head. They'd taken vacations before but they were few and far between. No matter where they went, something seemed to follow them. Or, if only one went, the other two had to take guard incase some demon got it in them to wipe out the Charmed ones. It was nice though that they all got along better than before.

Small miracles.

"Ah, that explains it then," she said with another smile, keeping an eye on the club as she kept up conversation with him. She found herself fascinated which wasn't all that common, especially when she was working here. "Ah yes, those moments. I know them well," she agreed.

"Want another?"

Piper shook her head with a laugh, cashing out another patron at the bar before returning. "So for your three week vacation, are you planning on staying in San Francisco or are you heading elsewhere?" There were plenty of sites to check out and Piper wouldn't be at all surprised if he did decide to head on out further.

She picked up the bottle and poured Peter another drink, leaning against the counter. "You could say that. Three sisters living in the same house we grew up with as kids." She briefly considered how she could word it where it didn't sound weird. "We are all that each other. We depend on each other I guess you would say."

In many, many ways.

Piper had to wonder why this man wanted to run as far as he could from his family. Of course, Phoebe had moved across the country to get away from Grams, from them when she was younger and that was before they knew they were witches! So she couldn't quite blame him. If it was anything like their family, she could sort of understand why. She nodded. "My sister ran across the country when she needed to get away from family so I get it."

Although she was sure the circumstances between the two were absolutely different.

"I get it," she said with a little smile. "The family obligations get exhausting after a while." Though she wouldn't do anything to change it, she knew how it went with an overbearing family obligation. She was enjoying this conversation with him, more than she had with others recently.

"I considered it for a moment but I was always the mediator between my two sisters," she said with a laugh, thinking back on those less supernatural times in her life. "The responsible one, I suppose you'd say." Though, she had it easier than Prue did. Prue had the first born problem of always feeling she had to do everything for her and Phoebe. "These days, i've thought about it more often than I did when I was a kid."

Piper considered those words for a moment before nodding. "Absolutely," she said with a smile. "Glad to hear someone out there understands that feeling." Though whether it was a good thing or not was left to be seen. It wasn't the greatest of feelings to have, that was for sure.

"Where are you running from, Mr. Hale?"
